| My name
is Tonya Ambrosini. I have loved and been involved with animals my
whole life. Since childhood, I've attended many dog shows and
developed a love and passion for it. At age 16, I got my first
show dog and entered many competitions. This lead me to become a
hobby breeder always trying breed the perfect show dog. I've been
showing and grooming dogs since 1969. I love all breeds of dogs,
but poodles are my favorite. You can make them look like just
about anything which makes them a groomer's paradise. |

I got started in pet grooming in a
very mischievious way. My father was a hunter and had a water
spaniel hunting dog that looked like a poodle. One day, when I was
six years old I was home from school sick with the chicken – pox,
I got hold of my father's clippers and decided his hunting dog
needed a haircut. I learned the hard way that using the wrong kind
of clippers on dogs can give them ''clipper burn''. I put poms on
his legs, shoulders and hips then down the back legs. I did this
from the morning till late night. |

Boy did I get it from my father
when he got home and saw what I had done to his dog. He had to
take the dog to a professional groomer to undo what I had done. My
stepmother thought it was hilarious and joked that I should never
touch a pair of clippers or scissors again. Later that night, she
told me I had a talent for grooming because she noticed my poms
were very good and perfectly cut. And that's how I became a
professional groomer and I still am today.
I got my first
horse when I was 3 years old. My father was involved with horses
and taught me how to ride and much of what I know.
