The Standard Poodle is
generally 15 -25 inches and weighs around 40 - 70 pounds full
grown and radiates an exuberant aura of elegance, pride and
intelligence. They are highly active with a square build and are
properly porportioned with a fairly broad, deep chest and their
loin is stout and well defined with a curly harsh coat. The
Standard Poodle's muzzle is long, straight and fine and their
teeth form a scissor bite. Their grooming is quite versitle and
variable. |

The Standard
Poodle's temperament is dignified and good natured. They are
highly intelligent which makes them easy to train as they are
responsive to even the most complex of commands. Standard Poodles
need constant socialization due to their tendency for happiness
and sensitivity.

The Standard Poodle is a
direct descendent of the French Water dog, however there is still
much debate over where in Western Europe the breed was developed.
The name ''poodle'' is derived from the German word ''pudel''
which means '' one who plays in water ''. This might lend evidence
to where the Standard Poodle was originally bred.
